We are now Demi: Announcing our Rebrand

Today we’re proud to share that UpMeals OS has officially rebranded to Demi.

This change represents more than a new name or logo. It reflects who we are, how far we’ve come, and what we believe the future of foodservice can look like.

How it started

Before we built any software, we ran professional kitchens ourselves. I’ve personally spent most of my life in this industry, working my way from washing dishes to building large food operations. That experience shaped everything about how we built our platform.

We knew firsthand what it felt like to juggle food costing, production schedules, labeling compliance, and customer orders across a mess of spreadsheets, sticky notes, and outdated systems. There was never enough time, and every new process felt like one more thing to manage or something that could break.

So we built UpMeals OS to solve the problems we lived through. To make it easier for operators to run great food programs without burning out or breaking their systems.

Why Demi

As we grew, we realized that what we were building had become bigger than UpMeals. The platform wasn’t just powering our food operations anymore. It was becoming the backbone for other food businesses, from commissaries to meal prep companies and grocery programs. We felt this evolution needed a name that better captured its purpose.

In cooking, “demi” often refers to reduction, the process of taking something complex and simmering it down to its richest form, like a demi glace. That’s exactly what our software does. It takes the complexity of food operations and reduces it into something focused, precise, and powerful.

“Demi” also refers to the demi chef, the station chef’s right hand. The one who handles the details that keep the kitchen moving. That second meaning fits too. Demi is the quiet assistant that keeps your operation on track, and makes sure nothing gets missed.

What’s changing

Aside from the new name and design, nothing changes for our customers. Your data, access, and integrations remain the same. The platform you rely on will simply have a new identity that reflects its broader mission.

What’s next

This rebrand marks the start of the next chapter in our journey to build the most intelligent operations system for the foodservice industry. To everyone who has supported us from day one; our customers, partners, and team, you have our most sincere thanks. The road here wasn’t easy, but it has been massively rewarding and we’re only getting started. 

While our name may have changed, our mission is the same as it was when we started: to help food operators spend less time managing details and more time creating great food experiences. This is simply our next evolution.
